The original lead singer of the Dead Kennedys and popular spoken word artist Jello Biafra has announced today plans to change his name in an effort to distance himself from comedian Bill Cosby in response to the scandal that has tainted the career of the once revered comedian.
Bill Cosby may not have anything to do with Jello on a technical level anymore but Biafra believes that the connection is there in a lot of people’s eyes and he just doesn’t want to be associated with that sort of thing.
While Biafra certainly isn’t alone in distancing himself from the once-greatly respected performer, his reasoning differs significantly. “I used to love Cosby like everyone else,” Biafra said, “Himself is a great album, but all the stuff he’s been doing since then is a bunch of garbage. I just find it increasingly difficult to forgive how terrible his latest material has been. I don’t know what’s going on in his life lately, but he just doesn’t seem to have anything interesting to say. I’m not looking to have my personal brand tarnished by this has-been stinking up the airwaves.”
If you’re interested in hearing more from Biafra, he is set to ramble about what he thinks of Donald Trump in an unspecified coffee house in a currently undisclosed location in the American heartland for $90 a ticket using his new moniker, Cleveland Indians Biafra, named after what he believes to be a basketball team.
